craniosacral therapy

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) is a whole body approach to health.
It works with trauma, chronic pain, anxiety, stress and other conditions.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy stems from osteopathy, meditation and somatic psychology.
Sessions are conducted with clients fully clothed.
The practitioner uses gentle, non-invasive touch to directly engage our nervous system and physiology.
This safe and calm contact orients us to the health in our body and enhances well being.

A craniosacral session usually takes about an hour. During the initial session you will discuss your concerns with your practitioner. You will be fully clothed for the session and will sit in a chair or lie on a treatment table. Your practitioner will make light and gentle contact with different parts of your body – usually the feet, the sacrum, or the cranium. The contact is non-invasive. There is no “manipulation” and no force or pressure is used. Sessions are client led. Your practitioner will sometimes ask you to describe the sensations you are experiencing during the treatment.
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is suitable for all ages.

How is your homeostasis?

Homeostasis is a way of understanding our natural process of growth and regeneration.

Homeostasis is a term that applies to all living systems – plants, animals, humans. It is our innate intelligence, a knowing of how to adapt to the changing environment, to continue to develop and thrive given the circumstances. At every moment we are seeking to find balance the best that we can. The body has many ways to sustain homeostasis. Sometimes external or internal forces affect us strongly and affect this balance. Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy brings us back into relationship with homeostasis, supporting our bodies in accessing this nascent drive in us to move towards health.

Where is your interstitium?
Did you know that we are 60-80% fluid? We are mostly salt water. About two thirds of this fluid is inside our cells (intracellular) and the other third is interstitial, meaning it flows between our cells. Interstitial fluid bathes and nurtures our cells, supplying us with essential substances and removing substances that we no longer need.
This fluid space is the Interstitium – the liminal space between everything in us! It is connected and continuous – a fluid information highway for the ‘chemical soup’ of our bodies. Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy supports and engages the fluid nature of our bodies. Practitioners work with the ‘tides’ in our body – the continuous ebb and flow of the fluid in us.
